A part-time head of digital for law firms.

For law firms of roughly 10 to 200 people in the UK and Cyprus. We write down how your firm uses AI, in a form you can hand to an insurer or a client. We put your client data and AML figures somewhere you can trust them, and we look after the systems nobody in the firm has time to own.

Prices exclude VAT, which is added where applicable.

When to get in touch.

  • The SRA’s warning notice on AI (August 2026) asks every firm it regulates to supervise AI-assisted work, protect client confidentiality and keep staff competent and up to date, and the firm’s answer isn’t written down.
  • Your professional indemnity insurance (PII) proposal form asks how the firm uses AI, what policy covers it and whether staff are trained, and the honest answer is “informally”.
  • A client’s due-diligence questionnaire has an AI section and a deadline.
  • There is no record of who reviewed a piece of AI-assisted work, when, or what they changed.
  • The annual AML questionnaire or return takes someone a week of digging through spreadsheets and inboxes.
  • Nobody at the firm owns the client data, the website, Microsoft 365 or the IT suppliers.

On 17 August 2026 the SRA published a warning notice on misuse of AI. It says solicitors and firms stay accountable for AI-assisted work, must protect client confidentiality and must keep staff competent and up to date, and that ignoring it risks disciplinary action.

Each of these fits one of the three ways we work, set out further down.

What PII insurers are asking about AI.

Solicitors' PII proposal forms in England and Wales now ask about AI. The broker Howden, reviewing the April 2026 renewal, says underwriters want to know how AI is used across practice areas, what governance policies and procedures are in place, and whether staff are trained.

Howden’s April 2026 renewal review

Gallagher's head of solicitors told LPM magazine in August 2026 that the insurers behind LawInsure, Gallagher's own solicitors' PII product, have added an AI question set to their underwriting. The questions cover deepfake fraud as well as the firm's own use of AI: what client data goes into AI tools, how staff are trained, how outputs are checked and whether AI use is disclosed.

The LPM article

You may not meet these questions every year. Howden notes that at the April 2026 renewal insurers generally accepted a short-form declaration, and that they typically ask for a full proposal form every three years. Whether your firm sees the AI questions this time depends on your insurer and on whether a full form is due.

These reports concern solicitors in England and Wales. If your insurer or a client asks how the firm uses AI, the pack gives you the written answer.

AI Evidence Pack

£1,500 fixed

Remote. Five working days, then a 30-minute walkthrough.

This is for the proposal form or questionnaire in front of you. You get:

  • AI use register
  • A one-page AI policy
  • Supervision protocol
  • Written answers for insurers and clients
  • Staff briefing and training record
  • One-page verdict

The pack covers the firm's own use of AI. The deepfake questions are about fraud and identity checks, which sit with your own risk procedures rather than this pack.

It is not certification, an audit, or legal advice. If the honest finding is that you need none of this, that is what the document will say.

Ongoing since August 2026

What this looks like in practice.

Since August 2026, we've provided the embedded Head of Digital & Growth for a regulated law firm in Cyprus, under a signed services agreement. The work is ongoing. So far we have:

  • built and tested a CRM, with role-based onboarding of the firm's staff now under way;
  • designed the CRM to produce the firm's annual Cyprus Bar AML compliance questionnaire figures by reporting year, with a source for every figure and any gaps visible;
  • looked after the firm's website and Microsoft 365 estate and its suppliers;
  • prepared a hosting, access and data note for the partner to sign off before real client data goes live.

The firm isn’t named here until its partner agrees. Because the work is still in progress, this lists what has been done, not results.

More about the law firm engagement

Where we stop.

Nothing here is legal advice. We can tell you how a system is built, what data it touches, where a person reviews its output and what record it keeps. Whether a specific obligation applies to your firm is a question for your own advisers, and we'll tell you when you've reached that line.

Our ISO certificates cover how Wolsten Studios works. They don't make your firm compliant with anything.

Bring the proposal form to a 20-minute call.

The call is free. A client's questionnaire, or a description of what keeps going wrong, works just as well. If you don't need us, we'll say so.
